Make Printable Image For Fabric
You can make printable SVG or PNG using Adobe Illustrator. Today we are going to make some bunting designs and going to make them printable on fabric.Here are simple steps.
- Download or create your bunting design. Now open Cricut Design Space.
- Then Click on “Images” and upload your image there by clicking “Insert”.
- If we are going to print six (6) pieces of bunting on printable A4 fabric street then we have to make 2.5 inches width and 3.2 inches height (Use measurements according to your design).
- If your design is selected as “Cut” then turn it to “Print” as shown.
You can use different digital paper designs to print on your fabric. I am using a floral digital paper design for my bunting. - Then go to “Upload” then “Upload Pattern” then to “Browse” select your pattern design and then upload it.
- Click on your design on the canvas and then click on “change color” then on “Patterns”. Now you can upload your favorite pattern from there.
- Select the pattern, all your designs will be covered with that pattern automatically.
- Now click on Duplicate to make six copies of them. You can write text on your design too as I did on bunting.
- You can arrange the text on each or bunting pattern and then click “Make it”.
- Now it will show you how Cricut will show you how your fabric sheet will be printed.
- The best thing is that you can use any maker or printer for your printable fabric design.
Prepare Printable Fabric Sheet
Straight your printable fabric sheet. This sheet will have two sides one is removable sticker type and the other will be gritty in texture.
- Straight your fabric sheet using a Fabric brayer and make sure all the sheat is really stuck down before putting it into the printer.
- Print your design. Place your design on the Cricut matt. (Make sure the design is completely dry before placing it into the Cricut, especially if you are using Inkjet printers).
- Use the fabric brayer again to straighten your sheet after placing it on the Cricut matt.
Setting Up The Printing:
- When you are at the second step where the Design space asks what material you want to print on then select “Browse All Materials”.
- Scroll down to “Fabrics” and select “Printable Fabric” from the list.
- For the 3rd step, Cricut will ask for what type of blade and its cutting depth, you can set it according to the thickness of your printable fabric sheet (Thickness of the sheet will be given on its packing).
- Now press “Go” to start cutting.

- Once you have done all the cuttings, peel away your stickers from the sheet.
- If your designs are bent or curved due to cutting, you can use Cricut Easy Press that is designed for this purpose.
- Set the temperature of the Easy press to 150 degrees celsius for 15 seconds.
- For pressing place a Teflon sheet on the fabric and press gently using a pre-heated Cricut Easy press.
- Now you are going to need heat and bond fabric adhesive to print them on fabric.
- Cut the exact size of heat and bond to your sticker.
- Place the sticker on the heat and bond carefully, and apply heat.
- When you will remove your sticker from the heat and bond after heating, it will have a shiny texture to it.
- Place that shiny side downwards and use the pre-heated iron to press them gently. The stickers will stick to the fabric firmly.
